I’m just wondering if someone could tell me something about contour offsets. If I am going to cut out a 12" circle and choose contour with no offsets using a 1/4" bit, will the circle measure 12" after cutting? Or will it be 11.75"?
Or do I need to choose an outside offset for the circle to keep its 12" diameter?
with no offset the center of the bit will follow the vector, so the line would be half the diameter of the bit inward. With both sides of the circle being inward you would have a circle diameter, one bit diameter smaller than the circle vector.
If you want the cut out disk to be 12 inches, select Outside/Right which will put the edge of the bit on the vector and the bit path outside the vector.
If you want a hole that is 12 inches then you use the Inside/Left, which puts the edge of the bit on the vector and the bit path on the inside of the circle.
