I was cutting some wood when I noticed the dustboot was completely full of chips. The cutter was rubbing up against all of them. I paused the cut and unplugged the boot. The collet nut was pretty hot but the spindle itself was fine. I waited a bit for it to cool down and unpaused the cut. Something caused the VFD to not restart the spindle so into the side of the wood it went. I stopped it pretty quickly but it spun the motors for a second.
now when I restart everything it goes through initialization I get fine movement in z and y. The x is fine moving in the + x direction toward home but once its lets off going in the - x direction I get a motor whinning sound and a slower movement than normal in the -x.
Any ideas on where I should start looking / troubleshooting?
Power off and make sure both Y rails are clean with no debris. Make sure the motor to ballscrew couplers are tight and pull the gantry forward until both ends touch the front plates and power back up and rehome.
