Hello folks,
I am trying to diagnose why I get this warning in Carbide Motion. I created a file in Fusion set up two simple CAM operations, one pocket and one contour. The contour is set to the depth of stock.
The stock is 1.5", but Carbide Motion indicates that the Program Size includes a Height (Z) = 2.1"
I am not sure if this is due to Fusion or Carbide Motion. I have ensured that the units in Fusion and Carbide Motion are both set to Inch.
I’ve used Fusion as my CAM for some time and this is the first time I have run into this. Any thoughts appreciated.
I find that opening the .c2d file up and drawing a box which matches the specified dimensions (draw up the cut in profile if need be) or moving the machine to the origin and then using a tape measure to measure out the dimension(s) in question will make clear where things aren’t lining up.
If the Z zero is on top of your stock, then the “Cutting depth below program zero” of -1.50in is correct. If you have 0.6" retracts, then the total envelope of the toolpath is 2.10" (1.5 below zero, and 0.6 above zero.)
