Cutting depth capability

So I’ve run into my first snag since setting up my machine back in September. Ive bought some basic bits (usually SPE). I didn’t think about this detail until tonight when I went to cutout my project and realized that my cut depth for the piece is set at 1.215". My bits are all 1" cutting depth. I need a longer bit so my question is the next longest seems to be 1.5" cutting depth but SPE has a 2" 1/4" straight upcut bit available. I’ll probably rarely need to cut that deep but can my 120v air cooled spindle even handle a 2" deep cut? Maybe with ramping and gradual passes its fine? Just wanted to make sure I dont burn out the router if i get a deep cutter.

With appropriate feeds and speeds and depth per pass it should be fine.

Create a pocket that is 20% wider than your bit. This will limit any slotting effects and give space for the shank of the bit. You can ramp in

Yeah, I figured i coukd finagle something to get it cut out. Just have to work thru the path(s).
