Hi everyone we are new to this site and CNC…ing…we are trying to make a washboard our first project and our machine is cutting larger holes then we are asking it too…we want to cut a 1/2 in hole and it is cutting 3/4 it seems like the machine is not calibrated right anyone have the same problem…Help
if you are using a 1/4" inch bit…
how are you making the toolpath? If you defined a 1/2 inch circle and then cut exactly that circle (so center of the 1/4 bit is on that 1/2 inch circle)… you end up with a 3/4" hole
really does sound a bit more like a design issue than a calibration issue; calibration is usually in the single digit percent or less
Please see: https://docs.carbide3d.com/assembly/carbidecreate/video-tutorials/#toolpaths if you are confused by the point @fenrus is raising.
Thanks for you quick reply guys so in the end it was that I had the wrong bit size …lol… duh…an amateur mistake I’m thinking…and off I go to make my waste board…I’m sure this will not be my last question…thanks again
yup that’ll do it as well
