it seems when i do multiple items in a project ie 2 of an exact plaque, the cut depths will be different also if i put in a toolpath to cut 1.0 mm depth, when it actually makes the cut it may cut 2 or 3 mm deep. Very confused by this. Oh did I say I am very new at the whole CNC world
When I do that kind of repeatable work I very carefully measure the thickness of my stock, and pay attention to where I set my Z zero. A digital caliper is a very good investment. Not saying that’s your problem but it very well may be your problem.
Understand that part. I do use a digital caliper for all my measurements. I use MM exclusively. Thanks though great idea.
What material are you cutting? What is its thickness variation?
What sort of toolpaths are you using? What tool? At what feeds and speeds and depth per pass and plunge rates?
How is the stock being secured? Could an upcut tool be lifting it up because it can flex?
Upload your .c2d file and photos showing the cut part and how you are measuring?
Always see this type of question on CNC boards …Uneven cuts software the last thing going to cause that. 2mm is a big big difference from piece to piece or across a big sheet. What size machine and what stock dimensions?
