Any idea why the collet nut for the Dewalt is a two-sided one? For somebody with bum thumbs, it doesn’t make life any easier.
Dont know why they made it that way but I have a 17MM short wrench I use to loosen/tighten my Dewalt collet.

The short wrench is wide enough in the jaws to grip the collet but not so long that I over tighten it.

Does the ratcheting end work with the nut, or only the open end?
The ratchet would work if the bit is smaller than the bit. I dont use the ratcheting end. A regular 17MM wrench would work without the ratchet. The ratchet on that particular wrench only works in one direction so you have to turn it over to go the other way. Not sure the ratchet would fit over the whole collet nut.
