Dewalt Minor Surgery

Went to start a project. Set everything up and after BitSetter the router comes to the front where the router starts. No router start but Bitrunner light was green. Stopped job and got extension cord and plugged router up and led light came on but no spin up. Found my router box in Shapeoko accessory drawer and I had 2 spare sets. Removed top of router and replaced first one. The second one was on back so I loosened router mount and turned it 90 degrees and replaced second one. Turned router back and tightened router mount.

Ran extension cord and router ran. Let it run about 30 minutes to break in brushes. Brought Shapeoko up and initalized and in jog turned router on and off. Reset my z zero because my router position could have changed and started job.

Having a maintenance kit and spare brushes kept me running by being prepared.

The new brushes were about .75" and old brushes were about 1/4". This Dewalt was from 2016 and has been run a lot. Been a great router.

Like my car that I pat on the dash and say good girl, I patted the router and said good boy.

I first read this as you having two spare sets of routers, which would be really prepared!

Then I got to the end and found out it was (probably) just brushes… still preparedness, but somehow disappointing

I do have a second Dewalt I use in the shop as a trim router. That one has the plunge kit and I use it a lot. So I do have a spare.

It was this bit I was referring to… I think you meant to say spare brushes.
