Dial Indicator Holder Design

Does anyone have a 3D Printer design file for a dial indicator holder for the standard Makita router they are willing to share. My machine is a Shapeoko Pro. I found a file on line that would work but the shaft hole for the router mount is 1/2 inch 12.7 mm and i need 1/4 inch 6.35 mm. I guess the design could be modified but i don’t have the capability to do that.

Thanks in advance

That looks quite complicated and dependent upon quite accurate fitting.

I made something a little simpler which has worked fine for me

My dial indicator has the tab on the back, it would be easy enough to change the arm to have an 8mm pinch for the indicator shaft instead of the tab clamp though.

The downside of this one is the indicator rotates so you do have to move your head around to see the dial. The upside is it’s dead simple and not very sensitive to print tolerances.

That looks much simpler. My indicator also has the tab on the back. Would you be willing to share the cut file and whatever else is needed to make this with me. Or, i would be willing to pay you to make me one if it’s not too pricey.

Thanks

Sure,

Here’s the Fusion360 CAD file
Indicator collet mount v11.f3d.zip (908.2 KB)
I’ve parameterised the spindle shaft diameter in this model to make it easy to change (if you have Fusion).

And an STL of the printable part (with the 8mm shaft I use in my spindle)
Indicator Collet Mount.stl (149.5 KB)

Another STL, but this time for a 1/4 inch shaft for a regular router collet.
Indicator Collet Mount 6.35mm shaft.stl (146.1 KB)

Let me know if those work for you, if not I can export a could of drawings of the part so you can re-assemble it in another CAD tool, there’s not much to it.

I suggest you check the size of the tab on your indicator, they are probably standard, but I don’t know. Also the bolt hardware in this model is M5 cap head, one 12-15mm and one 20-25mm. These could be swapped out for something imperial if you’re the other side of the Atlantic Meridional Unit Circulation, there’s a modelled M5 thread in the print. Let me know if you don’t have fusion, I can easily swap out the M5 for the nearest bolt in imperial (3/16" ?).

Cool
Thank you so much
What did you use for the 6.35 mm shaft on the 1/4 inch shaft one.
Never mind, i found a 1/4 6.35mm shaft.
Thanks again for your help

I’m going to just drop this here…In case you have a test type indicator

Yep, even simpler if you have a test indicator.
