Hello!
I’m fairly new to CNC, and I’ll be using my Shapeoko 5 Pro to build my second campervan.
I just completed (well, 80% completed) the shower cabinet. I call it a “hidden” shower because the shower pan is recessed in-floor, and the shower is stowed away when not in use. Some people build “permanent” shower in their van, but I didn’t want to sacrifice the space. We’ll see if it pays off.
It’s been fun finally put my setup to use (table, dust collection, etc.). So much to learn!
Anyway, here is an overview of my setup and the build process:
I used to have a cab over camper on my pickup. It did not have a bathroom. I choose it because it did not have a bathroom. I stayed in RV parks mostly so they had bathrooms and showers. I did not have carry enough water for a shower. I sold the camper and now have a Softtopper on my pickup to go camping. I bought a portable propane water heater and a little show enclosure pop up tent. That works well for primitive camping but if I stay in an RV Park I use their facilities.
Having water inside a camper almost always leads to rot. What are you using for a toilet? In my cab over days we just used a 5 gallon bucket with liners and a seat that sat on top of the bucket top. Not very luxurious but functional. When hunting in the woods we just did like the bears. They are making the container toilets now but are a little pricey.
We made an exterior shower for our first van. It worked, but an inside shower was on our “wish list” for the second van. Most vans have a shower inside nowadays. It shouldn’t mold as long as there’s good ventilation (Maxxfan) and dry heat (we have an Espar Gasoline Heater).
We had a composting toilet in our first van. We live full time in it for four years and we absolutely loved it, so we’re doing this again this time.
We plan on staying in the van for extended period (6-month at a time maybe?), so we need all the amenities
