Does anybody make a laser drill bit you can mount in the router for precise positioning (not laser cutting) ?

Folks have discussed using bore sights intended for us in firearms for this.

Not a direct answer to your question, but… I think a laser is so bright that it’s hard to pinpoint the exact center.
Instead, I use a vee bit to pinpoint XYZ zero. The tricky part is Z, and that’s relatively easy with a piece of paper. Slide the paper while lowering the bit by the smallest increment until it just barely stops the paper from sliding.
Ok thanks, and how do you avoid that the baseplate is slightly misaligned/skeved (if you have to use the whole baseplate or reverse it) ? My initial idea was to use two fixpoints, when mounting the baseplate.
I usually machine a “lip” into the baseplate, then register against that, using parallels if need be.
