If you’d like to add to that nose knowledge, dogs are still inhaling scents into their noses even during exhalation. That’s the function of those slits to the side of the nostrils. Read more in Ed Yong’s An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us.
BTW, the dogs noses look fine to me. Tough chore foreshortening in 2.5D.

I have two Goldens myself, brothers from the same litter, now 7 years old. Incredible dogs. I let my daughters name them, and at the time they played a lot of Nintendo, so they are named Mario and Luigi.
They love the pool, and Mario will even get up on a float and drift around.
