Reposting this, for anyone interested in an inexpensive starter machine.
I have a heavily modded but lightly used Shapeoko 3 with an aftermarket AL bed, Super PID speed control and PC router, unused bit setter, probe and lots of extras available. The bed is 1/2 solid AL with a pattern of 1/4" or 6mm threaded holes, don’t recall which. I added a MDF spoliboard over it with pass-through holes.
