Dust shoe add-on

I use dust shoes from PwnCNC, best for me is V9, I love the Z-indendent versions due to thick stock I mostly cut.
However the upper opening, wide enough for the spindle to dive in, most of the time is too wide, therefore draws in outside air, makes dust removal much less efficient.

I used horizontal circular brushes before, like for the drill dust collector:

Now I attached one of those to the V9 of PwnCNC, here the dust / chips before the brushes attached:

and after:

that how they are mounted:

Just as an idea for improvement.

That is a very good idea. My PwnCNC version has the plastic cover in that area, but enough chips are thrown out to notice.

How about providing your source for those circular brushes? I might be able to glue those in to help.

Tex,
got mine from Bosch 2 Pack of Genuine OEM Replacement Brush Rings For HDC250 - 1600A001NT-2PK
The one from a broken drill dust catcher what I used for another of the PwnCNC pieces could be glued nicely with “weld” glue for acrylic (not cyanoacrylic), the ones I got now are made from a kind of ungluable plastic, hence the screws.

The PwnCNC plastic covers are either too small if one needs a rather short bit, the spindle does not fit in if it needs to dive in further (please do not ask where I know that from…), or are wide and then again there is too much outer air sucked in.

Issue with these horizontal brushes is it is not easy to get some.
