My XL has been dormant for about a year, maybe a little more. I feel like I’m learning this stuff all over again.
I know there have been updates to firmware and software. Any ‘gotchas’ I should watch out for when trying to start this thing up again?

It’s been over a year since the firmware was updated, so if you’re on Grbl 1.1, you should be good to go with any version of Carbide Motion 4 — try Build 416: https://carbide3d.com/carbidemotion/ — the nice thing about CM4 is it will check the Grbl version and if you don’t have 1.1 give an error message — you can then either update: https://docs.carbide3d.com/support/carbideupdater/ or revert to CM3 — see v3 at the bottom of: https://carbide3d.com/downloads/
