Edge/Center finding on Nomad

Its been 6 weeks without a Nomad related topic which makes me sad so here is a topic that I have been wondering about for a while.

Being one of the longer term Nomad 883 Pro owners, we started edge finding and center finding using a rotational edge finder tool such as https://www.fishermachine.com/product-page/model-250-edge-finder
Back in the day Carbide Motion had a button to turn on the Nomad spindle as slow as it can go to keep it under the 1500 RPM limit for the edge finder. Once that button disappeared from CM I wrote a couple of short Quick Actions to emulate that function.

My question is, what are the cool kids using these days to edge/center find objects that don’t easily fit into the X/Y flat plane world of the BitZero?

The tool which I want to try, but which unfortunately doesn’t fit unless one has a Nomad 4 is:

and I would give my interest in Hell for someone to make that in 1/4" or 6mm diameter.

I use a Vermont Gage 1/4" precision (advertised as .00004" tolerance) gauge pin and a sheet of Zig-Zag cigarette paper (.001" thick) as a feeler. When the pin pinches the paper I consider it to be touching the workpiece/stock. I do have a 3/8"-shank Starrett 827A edge finder from my Tormach days, but can’t use it due to my N4’s 8krpm minimum spindle speed.
