Edit a curve created from text

I created text, the word ROOM, in CC. I used the Cambria Math font. I had to convert the text to curves to accomplish an edit I needed. When I zoom in on the letter M, I see this:

How in the world do I get rid of these unwanted loops? I’m going to engrave this path and obviously this looks bad.

I’ve tried using the trim, no doesn’t work. I’ve tried moving nodes, always screws things up with making weird curves. I just want to trim the loop.

I’m using CC b778. Thank you.

Select the Vector. Tap the “N” key for Node editing.
Select the undesired node and hit the “d” key.

You can also use ‘Boolean Weld’ to cure these problems. The trick is that Boolean Weld is available as an operation only if two (or more) vectors are selected.

So, select the vector with the problem, and some other, non-overlapping vector. You could just create a ‘throwaway’ vector that you delete later. For example, with this to start:

Add a vector (or choose an existing one):

Select both and use ‘Boolean Weld’, the first icon in the Boolean operators section:

Result:

You can also multi-select vectors thatr all have the problem, then you don’t need an ‘extra’ vector, and they will all be cured.

The one ‘drawback’ is that using ‘Boolean Weld’ will convert the vectors to poly-lines. Curves will have many more nodes. These are more difficult to node-edit, since there are so many more nodes.

I be damned!!! The boolean weld is a magic trick! How/who ever found this!

Thank you SO much. I have to say I’ve always received the best advice here.
