El Ocho Cutters

Have the 311 and 312 bits and looking forward to using them. CCreate V8 does not list these in the bit selection. I know they can be added, but being novice at tweaking bit settings I have no idea where to start. Can you provide recommended parameters for these bits for hardwood?

Thanks!

I see the bits in Shapeoko Hardwood under vee bits.

They may be in other categories as well. I am not completely up to date but CC is 838.

Thank you, I see them now…Duh

The numbers C3D has provided for #311 and #312 are the same for as #301 and #302.

However, since #301 and #302 have two flutes, and the new ones have three flutes, using the same numbers is an awful choice. It’s like absolutely zero thinking went into the values for #311/#312.

If you want to keep the same chip load for the new cutters, you would want to either slow down the RPM (to 12K), or increase the feed rate (by 50%).

Given how conservative the C3D numbers are, you could probably double the feedrate. I have 3 flute V bits that I run at 100ipm, so triple what C3D is recommending.
