Embroidery content options

My wife has numerous tools and toys for making fabric and thread based products.
One of the toys is a ten needle embroidery machine.

I asked her to convert an angel embroidery file ( using Embird ) to see if I could use it on the SP5.
She sent me a SVG file and a PAT (Innova pattern file). The PAT format is Gcode without a header or trailer.

The design is copyrighted so I can not post it but here is a screen shot of Inkscape and NcViewer opened files

Embroidery designs will double back sometimes to create texture or they are poorly constructed.
The original file determines how “clean” a conversion could be. This one was very good.

  • The SVG retained path definitions and color.
  • The PAT is a single path ( no GO except for first line ) .

There are “jump” stitches in the design. This are transitions in the design which are hand cut off after the run. I will have to find and remove ( replace a G1 with a G0 ) these before engraving.

This should look good on acrylic.

And here it is. 5.75 in square acrylic. Scaled up SVG by 20%
90 degree drag bit, three turns in max, default CC settings.

I think you could scale up at least x2 with same bit. More than that I would try the 120 degree bit
