End Mill and tool storage (show your setup)

Reached out to DrillMan to see if he would sell some boxes but he said they cost him too much and are too hard to get from Kyocera anymore.

So I found some of those boxes on AliExpress for $0.60 each. With shipping, 20 boxes cost me $20 total. 14 day shipping.

For now, I think I will standardize on these for the 1/8” shank bits, as I have more of them then 1/4” bits. Not sure I needed 20, but didn’t want to start down a path and then not have what I needed. I think I will make a storage system similar to yours.

Do you have a link for the ones that are $0.60/each?

Thanks so much. I just ordered a bunch so I can re-organize my bit storage. I’ve currently got a small number of mis-matched set of the 50-piece holders. I will be able to organize my bits very nicely with these, labeling them with 1/4" label tape as to the contents. It will make it much easier to replace broken bits in the one 10-hole holder I currently have that contains one each of the bits I use the most.

I have made wall-mount shelf for most used bits and spare and rarely used bits are in drawer in box
Its in nice angle so easy to acess next to machine and cos im using different size collets so all are organized by collet size
close by hanging is wrench for mounts and for tool change. Screen shouts what tool to use and top ill grab the right tool main bits i have plenty spare but dont see to keep them outside. when outside gets broken or time to retire… then ill grab from drawer new

I ordered 20 and will probably make a boxes that holds 10 each. Sort of like these ones posted from Madhatter. I can’t fill all the spaces, but rather grow into it then maxed out.

I left them in the box they came in and built an organizer for my drawer under the cnc

I see some that take the bits out of the boxes. For me that is a problem. You can lose track of what they are and they are more vulnerable to getting dumped on the floor. I like the cases to keep them organized. Your setup is nice. It is nice to have a place for everything and everything in its place.

For me, that will be key…keeping them labeled. The smaller bits are hard to determine what they are. IE Size, LOC, up/down, #FLT, flat/rounded corners etc. I will labeled the boxes I ordered with whatever is on the individual tube labels. I’ll probably keep each box to one type/size etc. In my case, some boxes may only have 2-3 bits but they won’t be confused with a similar bit.

Now on to the 1/4” and specialty bits.

I use small clear tackle boxes with moveable dividers for my mills, drills, and Er20 collet and nut sets.
