after reviewing and researching speeds and feeds, I am more comfortable with making small changes, However, I am struggling now as to how to categorize my end-mills.
I recently purchased several different types of end-mills, while trying to add them to my custom library, my only options are as follows:
End Mills
Ball Mills
vee
Engravers
I purchased the 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch lightning Drill Bits from IDCWOODCRAFT.COM and want to put them in their own subcategory.
any adivse ?
EDIT: also how would I add the Lightning Drill Bits I see nothing referencing pecking in tool setup…
Make a custom tool database by category. So if the same bit is used for different F&S make a separate database for each category of the same bit. As far as a drill router bit just keep that in a separate database. I think when you choose that particular bit in a a drill tool path you can edit the tool (only for that tool path) and you can see what parameters the drill tool path is setting. You can modify for a one time or edit the .csv file for a permanent fix to a particular custom tool. Technically a router drill bit is an end mill but name your custom tool database to identify it is a drill and not and endmill but the categories are set by c3d and are not modifiable.
There you can name the library anything you want. In your case “Drill”. The categories of the types of bits cannot be changed or added but the name of the library can indicate what you are going to use it for. So when creating a tool path you pick “Drill” Then edit tool and pick your custom tool database. Select the tool you want. You can edit the tool to change any parameter on a one time basis in the tool path tool edit. If you want to permanently modify a tool in your database then edit and everytime the tool is selected it has the parameters you set in the custom database tool.
