Endmill Coating Concern

HI All,
Pro XL owner here still learning the ins and outs of my machine. I’ve been cutting mostly thin aluminum sheet with the cheap carbide essentials endmills and achieving decent results but have recently moved up to playing around with the #274Z. I’m actually really impressed by the results i’m seeing with the single flute but i do have a concern about the coating. After running just a couple of small jobs, it appears the gold coating is already starting to wear off. Is this normal or does something sound off with my feed/speeds?. I’ve been using the predefined profile for the 274z in CC. Thanks!

If you are cutting aluminum it may be aluminum coating the bit. You can try cleaning with commercial cleaner or lye.

I’ll definitely try that. Thanks for the suggestion.
