Good morning! I’d like to try this on wood. Can I cut text, then spray paint the texe and remove the tape?
Thanks,
Jimbo
Yes, there are several different styles of tape and brands folks are using. Oramask is one of the products mentioned here frequently.
Thank you Tim, I’ll play with that today.

I use Oramask 813 as well. On jobs with more detail, or with large sections, I precut the mask with a drag knife & remove the mask before cutting. Also works if just painting with no cutting.
I’ve seen quite a few who have had good luck with cheap adhesive shelf paper (Walmart, Dollar store…)
I’ve used the cheap stick on shelf paper with pretty good success. No matter what you use it’s important to use a roller or something to ensure it adheres well.
I buy Easyliner Adhesive Shelf Paper at Walmart. I have Oramask that goes unused. The shelf paper works well and is CHEAP. All masks can get frayed and come off during cutting. Here is an example of some sycamore blocks I made and the shelf paper came off. The main purpose of the shelf paper was to mark the center for machining. I did not make the blocks and some were different sizes. They were carved on both sides.
The thing about oramask is you usually cannot buy it locally if you run out. The shelf paper is at Lowes, Walmart and other retailers. It also works well if you are going to paint because it masks a lot of what you dont want painted.
