Engraving On Shapeoko Pro

I’m looking to try and “engrave” stainless steel with my Shapeoko Pro XL. A couple of questions:

  1. Is it possible?
  2. If so, what bit to use?
  3. What feeds and speeds?
  4. In addition to engraving I want to cut them out. What bit if different from #2 above?
  5. What’s the best method for holding it in place while carving/cutting? It is very thin.

How deeply do you need to mark?

The M.C. Etcher works well for this:

As noted above, I made a custom fixture to hold the part.

What about cutting the profile?

Cutting out wasn’t relevant to what I did.
