youtube suggests you do a thin poor without any chips. Wait for it to mostly set, and then do the rest of the poor but with chips.
I guess you have to time this really right, depending on how fast your exposy cures, I tried this earlier and failed miserably, but did not persevere
(not with chips, with heavy glitter, but it ended up mostly at the bottom)
It’s not a trivet but this was my V-carve with Epoxy top coat project I made as a thank you to my neighbor for driving from Florida to Virginia to pickup a power wheelchair I bought off Ebay for me.
Purty cool sign !
I wet block all of my carbon fiber parts, that do not receive a clear paint system, to an average of 2k, you can of course go higher. I then machine polish with a wool bonnet and compound. The compound I use has an effective grit of about 2k and sub. You can then move on to a polish, foam pads ect. But I find the finish satisfactory for epoxy. Glass clear.
Also, I do not recommend torching epoxy. Most epoxies begin to break down at a relatively low temperate. I use heat to remove epoxy, hardware ect.
At 7 minutes 55 in he uses a wood finish that also makes the epoxy shiny again…
(after sanding to 320 grit)
