This is the third time the router has just stopped while running. This last one is only 3-4 months old. Am i driving it too hard?? No smoking or odd noise before it slowed and stopped.
Does replacing the carbon brushes get it going again?
Could they go that quick it only has 20 to 30 hours on it. But I will look.
Maybe. The Makita and C3D router use the same brushes. The brushes only get about half way worn and have plenty more brush left but the wire that connects the brush to the contact is short. So when the brushes get about half worn they do not fully engage the armature of the router and creates noise that can cause disconnects and/or the router stops running. At least try replacing the brushes. I believe that C3D sends a spare set of brushes with their router. You can get the brushes from C3D or find the Makita 701xx and those brushes will work. The C3D router is a clone of the Makita
