Ive just noticed that when I try opening a saved file, it get an error message. it says it cannot open this file, so the work I’ve done won’t open. I’m running a Mac with a M1 and it is up to date.
What is the source of the files?
Are they current files which you have recently saved? Please try saving to a local drive which is not removable.
If older files, note that specific versions have discontinued support for older versions as noted in the v8 announcement:

Create V6 files do not load into V8
Upload the files here (or send to support@carbide3d.com) and we will look into this with you.
Saving to the desktop worked, is there a reason you can’t saved to a removable drive now.
Shawn,I was having the same issue on a Mac book air,I always saved to an external drive and all of a sudden they would not open. Will told me to save to the Mac and then when finished save to the external and works well.
I dunno, when this comes up, I feel like the doctor in the Marx skit…
I suspect if you check in with a Genius Bar that they’ll blame it on how Carbide Create was written, but that aspect of it seems to be 3rd party libraries/intrinsic to QT apps, complicated by the need to combine everything about the file (geometry, 3D model, toolpaths, &c.) into the file format used — does using a newer build change this?
Will just did a trial on the latest Beta one saved to desk top and one to the external drive and would you believe no issue!!!
