Favorite non-marring wedge/shim?

Recently I did some wood working and used double sided suretape for workholding.

Getting the piece off of the bed was great fun. Sure tape is tenacious stuff. I ended up taking a chunk of 1/8” delrin and shaving it into a very shallow wedge.

That got me looking to see if I could just buy a few nice wedges to have around the shop.
If you’ve got a favorite brand of wedge, let me know :beers:

And if you’re strange enough to have strong opinions about wedges, let me know what they are. What should I care about :slightly_smiling_face:

I have a bunch of random wedges from cut offs. I use them some on the CNC but mostly on a planner sled and I have a slabbing jig that I use them on. To secure them I use hot glue. Hot glue holds securely and removed easily. A little bit of denatured aclohol allowed to soak for a few minutes and it comes off easily.

I use double sided tape for some turning projects and it has two problems. First is getting the stupid paper off. Second is getting the tape off my project when done. My 2 sided tape of made for turning and is quite tough. I have tried carpet tape but it does not have the strength when turning at 2000 RPM, at least not enough I would bet my life and limb on.

Are you referring to a shim that you use or want to use as a wedge?

I’ve even ripped, cut and stacked these and still like them.

PS. Amazon Never Rot Shims
