Festool hose...yes or no?

I think I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a Festool hose. Any thoughts…recommendations…etc? What size hose should I get? 11’ or 16’? It’s a surprisingly large purchase but I read nothing but good about them.

To what purpose?

If you need 16 feet, then you’ll have to get the longer hose.

I don’t like them because they are tapered, and because of that are noisier than a straight hose.

Another consideration is that the largest diameter seems to be 50mm, a bit narrower than the 2.5" at the vacuum end.

I have 3 shop vacs in my shop. My main one is under my tablesaw outfeed table and I have a 15’ hose. It is very useful to leave the vacuum cleaner in its place and have the long hose to clean things in the center of the shop. The other two vacs have standard hoses and are in the opposite two corners. I move them around some to vacuum up messes.

I like having the longer hose. It makes cleaning up easy. I do occasionally move centralized one out and it is on wheels to get places my other two vacs are to inconvenient to move to. So I like the long hose. That just depends on your shop configuration and how neat you like things to be. Some people just clean up every once in a while. I like to clean up at the end of the day and put my tools back where they belong. The exception to putting tools up is if an active project is in the works and I leave them out. I still clean them up and organize them.

Festool makes great stuff but it is very pricey. If you do some online shopping I am sure you find something competitive and half the price.
