File will NOT load

Laptop died so reinstalled Carbide on new laptop.
I go to open various old project files and it appears to load except there is no project displayed on the screen. Also, the stock sizes on all projects open at 0.9" X 0.9" with 0" thickness and 0" retract height.

Anyone have any idea what is going on and how I can recover all my projects?

What version of Carbide Create did you have on the old laptop? Which verison did you install on the new one?
What kind of laptop(Mac/PC)?

Are you opening the files from within Carbide Create? Or trying to load the files directly from a File Manager window or desktop? Older versions of CC would not load project files that way I distinctly remember - I believe that was resolved in v7.xx.

Machine is a PC
I don’t know what the previous version of Carbide was and that laptop is toast so I can’t check.
I tried opening files both ways, from within Carbide as usual and also from the file manager. Same result with both attempts.

If you will upload the file here we will try to look into it.

Note that newer versions will not load files from older versions of the software past various cutoffs.

Oregano.c2d (44 KB)

Lakeside Display Shelf.c2d (404 KB)

I can’t remember if we ever cut the oregano file but I know we cut the Lakesdie file

I believe the file was created using CCv7.57 - nothing really complex about it that I can see. Loads fine on my PC system in either CCv7 or v8.05Beta.

What version of CC did you install on your system? Version is up in the program title bar.

Your Oregano file does not appear to have design or toolpath data in it - it’s just empty.

Both are v7 or later.

Lakeside Display Shelf opens as expected in v8:

but note that Oregano.c2d seems to be an empty file:

Carbide that was installed is build 778

I didn’t mean to delete the post. Hopefully it is still up.

One thing to try would be to use v6 to bridge the gap:

Good evening I had the same problem. Do not emphasize above letters or special characters in the title of your backup file. There are a lot of them in French. Since I no longer put an accent everything is fine. I hope this will solve your problem.

I managed to recover some folders by renaming them without emphasis. But I didn’t recover everything.
