brand new to CNC and on my 4th test project and had a catastrophic clamp failure totally ruining the piece. Thankfully trying new things and now know you can’t over clamp a piece in place
Read up on Painters Tape and CA Glue. I use it almost exclusively.
Well, perhaps there was an underlying cause of the clamp failure?
Since you didn’t mention what machine you are using, I’m guessing. Your photo looks like there is a possibility that your feeds and/or speeds could be a cause of the clamp to let loose.
Could you post your file for someone to compare with it?
I had a similar issue just recently using an upcut endmill. I used clamps only providing side pressure and not clamping down on the surface of my project. I couldn’t clamp down on the surface as the clamps would have been in the way. I didn’t realize then how much lifting force an upcut endmill has when your pushing it and it lifted my board right out of the clamps. I then discovered Gorilla Glue double sided tape from Home Depot, it’s blueish. Man that stuff is strong! I only use about (5) 1/2" squares to hold down a 12" square board and I need a chisel to break it loose. The tape is very thin so there is no movement side to side or up and down like some other foam mounting tapes, so your board won’t move during cutting. I highly recommend it, oh and it doesn’t damage the surface even on MDF.
