I made the first modification to my Shapeoko XL today.

I drilled and tapped a #10-32 hole in the spindle mount so I could easily mount an indicator to it.

Is that just a noga/noga knockoff removed from the mag base?

Yes, tt is a Noga removed from the magnetic base.
