hi, are there forbidden characters in the tool descriptions?
I added a tool with 1/4" in the description and when running a file when it calls for a tool change out it is only described as #10
What did you number it as?

I have since changed it to 250 to see if it would show up but not yet
it shows the corrected description in CC Ill retry tomorrow. I’ll recheck in Motion
For custom tools you must have a unique number and only a unique number. CM does not understand custom tools with descriptions for the tool only unique numbers.
The C3D builtin tools are different. You cannot change a stock tool permanently. You can copy it and make a custom tool but you cannot change a stock tool in the stock tool database. Just copy it and modify the copy. You can modify a stock tool on a one of basis but not permanently.
Carbide Motion is hard-coded to give descriptions of the Carbide tools. All other tools only get a tool number.
This is a long asked-for feature request, so far it hasn’t met the bar to be implemented.
I would have thought that with CM now able to ingest the C2D file that that feature would have made the cut, but alas not.
