Some folks have used a regular carbide endmill (this has safety implications and is best done with the glass submerged):
Breaking a pane of glass in half is easy – just score it, break it, and after practicing a few times, you’ll eventually get it right. What about cuts that are impossible with a normal g…
Hello all,
I need to accurately cut 1.12mm thick glass sheets for a scale model. Mostly precisely placed holes and outside dimensions that include a curve.
I found this: http://benkrasnow.blogspot.com/2011/08/cnc-milling-glass-plates-and-mirrors.html
Questions (that I can think of):
What is the best coolant to use? Can I use water as a coolant?
If I submerge the glass in a tank of coolant (to contain the mess and particles), is that okay?
Are there any nuances to diamond burrs I need to …

Note that the debris from cutting must be discarded in a safe fashion and not poured into a municipal water system (the tiny shards will shred the filters).
Otherwise, a diamond drag bit is the usual choice:
Interesting… I would have thought setting “Min Depth” and “Max Depth” to the same value would have yielded a single consistent depth per pass. Is that not the case?
MC Etcher is our new diamond drag bit. It is perfect for fine line engraving on composites, metals, and glass. MC Etcher drags a diamond-coated, spring-loaded tip over the surface of your material to create an etched or engraved pattern, it does not...
Price: USD 40.00
Get a spring loaded diamond drag bit, available on E-Bay and Amazon. They come with different tip angle that provide etching of slightly different width. The difference may be subtle, I don’t have enough experience to really tell the difference.
