Hello, I have the Shapeoko 5 pro. I was turning on my machine today and loaded in the file. When I pressed “initialize machine” it went to the front as normal, as it went down to the bit setter, it gave me alarm 4. As I keep trying to initiatilize and then pressing go for the tool measure, the bit keeps going to random places and not above the Bitsetter. The machine is also making a very loud grinding noise as it is moving from left to right.
Ive tried closing carbide motion and turning off machine for a bit and starting over but it keeps happening.
It would be on the “X” axis. Simply the screw that moves the "Z"plate right and left. Where it attaches to the motor that causes it to move there is a coupler. I think it is white. Check that. There are instructions on C3D site for it.
I agree with @Zman that you have some sort of mechanical problem and are losing steps. The ball screw couplers have been known to come loose so the ball screw does not turn properly. Also check that a dust collector hose is not binding up the gantry.
