I have been through LITERALLY, every nut, bolt, and wire on my 4 xxl and not been able to connect to the cutter. When i plug the cable in to either side, i get a solid connection, I have been through several high-end USB A- USB-B cables. The cutter and its components all work perfectly. The computer will acknowledge the cutter being on and off. The VFD acknowledges the cutter. I have uninstalled the Carbide 3D programs several times using different versions. The cutter will give me a solid and then blinking green light then go to solid red after giving up on the connection. I call this the “sad light”. I need help and you guys have been AWESOME in every step of the troubleshooting process. I feel like we are almost there. I am running windows 10.
Have you ever been able to connect to it from this computer? What is showing in the Windows Device Manager under Ports when everything is plugged in and turned on?
Yes. I have not made any modifications to the computer or the programs before this incident occurred. It was cutting without issue. My VFD was having issues which ended up being a pin issue with the VFD quick connect at the cuter end.
You really should contact support@carbide3d.com. They should have troubleshooting steps for this. My guess is though that the controller is faulty.
I have contacted today about your issue. I understand they are busy and it is Friday do i was hoping Simone could shed some light on all of this. You are super helpful.
I would try connecting to GRBL on the controller directly to see if that at least responds. First verify that the COM port shows up in Windows device manager when you plug the controller in. If so install a serial console software like putty. You’ll need to configure putty to connect to the COM port and set the baud rate to 115200 as 8-N-1. When you open the connection you should see a GRBL prompt.
