GUI and Manual Mode?

Maybe I haven’t looked far enough but two questions.

  1. Any idea if there may be any updates for a more updated GUI for motion? I see a few other manufacturers out there and they done pretty sweet UI’s and would love to see something like that in the future.

  2. Can we go to manual mode in Motion? Like say I want to flatten some stock on my own, can I go in and type G03 S12000 and then manually run my bit over the stock? Then just turn off and go back and run a program?

Just curious.

What would you like to see in the ui? Just changing it up or something specific? (I’m not a dev, just wondering what the ask here is).

Manual surfacing is something we don’t support.

Nothing really exactly. To me, it feels a little too simple? I know, sometimes the more simple, the better.

Just some neat looking GUI’s out there compared to motion

I luv my Mach 3 GUI. And every time a new surprise “safety” feature pops up, I’m getting closer to gutting my machine and make the switch.

Yeah, the whole manual mode thing? they removed it from carbide motion for “safety”.

Having manual mode is a huge help. Especially if you want to flatten something and then call that your z zero. We did that a lot in the cnc machine shop. It’s a big bonus to have it.

And yes Mach3 is pretty sweet. Don’t get me wrong, I love plug and play and how easy it is with these controllers and all.
