HDPE Pocketing with bit for a smooth finish

I am pocketing logos into HDPE using a 1/16 endmill. It’s working great but the finish isn’t smooth and I am getting cut marks in the pocketed area. Any advice on what bit I should be using or run specs? Thanks.

I would suggest leaving a roughing clearance equal to the chip size of a 1/32" endmill and then taking a finishing pass with that smaller tool.

Are you able to elaborate on the finishing pass with the smaller tool? Thanks.

Inset by the chip size, apply the pocket toolpath to that, then assign a contour toolpath using a full-depth cut with the smaller tool.

I buck the conventional wisdom on ColorCore by using a #102 upcut end mill at 8000 rpm and 60-80 ipm. I can’t remember the stepover, probably something like 10%. I get a much better surface on pockets that way than anything I tried with an O Flute.
