I just recently got my HDZ and installed it… great piece of hardware.
My question now is do I need to calibrate my Z axis with the HDZ. I known there is not belt stretch but just want to be sure I am not missing something like tolerance of the ball screw or something with the stepper…
I was looking in the forum but did not find anything regard HDZ and calibration.

In theory, you can calibrate the HDZ the exact same way as you would the stock Z or any other axis (cutting a pocket of a given depth, measuring it with a caliper, and adjusting $102 accordingly).
In practice it is likely that when you do this, you find out that the precision is already very good with the default value (on my machine that’s $102=320), and you might as well stay with the nice round value to avoid rounding errors
Cut a few pockets/steps and you will know.
