Help...Carbide Create app recently has tiny font size

Sorry if this is addressed elsewhere, but in the last month my carbide create app suddenly has a tiny font size in the design, model, toolpath menus. I don’t mean it designs or Vcarves with tiny fonts, I mean the app itself has a tiny font to the point where reading it, like to see the height and width of a rectangle size is almost impossible. I’m not just getting old, ha-ha, the font on the standard menu elements, like file, edit, view, are still OK. The Carbide Create internal app font is about 1/4 the size of the windows system font. It didn’t used to be this way.

Is there some kind of setup file or other place to adjust the internal font size? I tried adjusting the system font size, which does change the system level font size (file, edit, view …) but had no impact on the internal carbide create font size. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I’m using Carbide Create Pro 514 on a Window Surface PC.

What do you have scaling set to?

(right-click on program options and choose Properties until you get there)

Try different options there.

OK, got it. Thanks Will. Just to clarify in case it is useful to others, the properties Will suggested changing are found by going to the actual windows program files directory, finding the carbide create directory, then finding and right clicking on the actual Carbide Create program file (it took a while to figure this part of the puzzle out.) Once there I randomly tried settings. Changing “Override high DPI scale” to be “System” instead of “Application” was a definite improvement (see the before and after images below) although now the lines are a bit fatter and blurred, but I can live with that. I feel that I am working around the actual underlying issue, but at least I can continue what I was doing without going blind.

Again thanks Will for getting me going in the right direction.

John:

Prior to Windows 10 users were able to change the fonts of individual applications but that option was ‘removed’ by MicroSoft to make their systems more user friendly

The underlying commands are still in the Operating System they simply have been removed from the User Interface.

I ran into the problem you experienced with Carbide Create with other applications including Windows Explorer which would - over time - reduce the font size to almost microscopic level.

I found the following piece of freeware that restores the access to the commands. I have been using it on two desktop computers for almost a year with no problems. YMMV
