I have a shapeoko XL, and I am really frustrated with Carbide create and I cannot figure out why I can’t get anything I create to cut correctly. I am working on a sign, using a v carve bit #302, only half the text shows up when i do the simulation. Also why is it such a pain to add tools and why don’t they stay, you’d think that the software would have all the tools built in that Carbide 3d sells. Sorry I am venting since I have not had one successful cut on this machine yet.
Also does anyone else have issues with carbide create after build 300 the program stops responding on every thing you do? I am an IT guy by day and man it frustrates me when software doesn’t work lol.
I have attached the file I am having issues with, really hope someone can tell me what i am doing wrong. I am using the #302 v bit (60 Degree)
I can’t open your file since I am using Ver 307, sorry. Have you watched any of the training videos? Adding a cutter isn’t difficult, and they stay if added correctly.
Please accept our apologies for your difficulties. Pre-loading tools has been suggested — hopefully it will happen in a future version. The specifics of adding them should be discussed here: http://docs.carbide3d.com/assembly/carbidecreate/video-tutorials/#custom-tools (don’t really know since I’m not patient enough to watch videos — though I need to do that to transcribe them)
Anyway, adding a tool is tricky at first — you have to double-click and so forth, and hit the add button, and I’ve written it up somewhere, but can’t find it — hang on.

Your file should be fine to cut — with a tool definition which matches your tool and appropriate feeds and speeds — please work these up using scrap and make a test cut first (do not use a priceless irreplaceable piece of wood until you are confident of the machine and your ability to manage it) — the problem is our 3D previewing is not perfect. You can see that all the letters have appropriate toolpaths.
