I have a 7/8 90 degree V Groove carbide drill, similar to Amana Tool 45718.
I need to cut out a 570 x 570 mm. (outer rectangle) plate with 45 degree edges from an appr. 600 x 600 x 9 mm. MDF plate. 45 degree edges must go all the way, making inner rectangle 552 x 552 mm.
I use Shapeoko 4 XXL.
I cannot figure out how to make the Carbide Motion file ?
First we need to work on your math. the 9mm would get subtracted from both sides making the inner rectangle 552x552.
A “Carbide Motion File” is either a Carbide Create .c2d file, or a G-Code file.
I think what you’re asking is how to do this in Carbide Create ??
In Job Setup, make your stock 600 x 600
Then create a 570 x 570 rectangle. That’s pretty much the only geometry you need.

For the toolpath I would consider an advanced V-Carve (If you have a bitsetter).
Set the tool parameters (Feed, Speed, Stepover & Depth of cut) appropriate to your material.
You will need to create a new tool, as the 90° Vee in the library is only 1/2" in diameter.
The Pocket Tool will clear out the center, and the Vee Tool will cut the chamfer & sharpen the corners.
Thanks. You are right, it is 552 x 552 mm. From the picture it looks like you are removing something from the whole plate. I just want to remove the edges ?

Ah, OK. So your stock is 600x600. You want the outside (bottom) dimension to be 570x570, and the top to be 552x552?
You can still do this with Advanced V-Carve, you will just get some air cutting.
Makes more sense to split it into 2 operations.
I’ll assume you’re using a 1/4" & a your 90° Vee
Make a rectangle that is 1/4" (6.35mm) bigger than the stock. 606.35
Make your 570 rectangle.
Select both rectangles & make a pocket path to clear the outside.
Select the inner rectangle, and do a contour path (No Offset) with the Vee tool to make the chamfer.
Or, even easier… If you want to make sure the tip of the Vee tool goes through the bottom, make the inner rectangle 570.5 x 570.5, and set the max depth to 9.25, and just do the contour with the Vee tool.
The toolpath will finish 0.25 away from the edge, and 0.25 deeper than the bottom

Thanks. How do I enter the Tool parameters from Amana 45718 in Carbide Create (I only have Carbide tools) ? Can I import them or something ? Or can I just use Carbide Vtool 301 ?
A #301 would be a good starting point — just duplicate that tool and adjust the diameter and feeds and speeds, see:
