Hello all,
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I am curious if someone could help me here. I have a file that is already a SVG file that I would like to edit so that it would look good cut on my CNC machine. Maybe, someone can poing me to a website that explains how to do thos or better yet can do it for me. Im not looking to get it done for free but a reasonable cost would be nice. I uploaded the file in case someone want to have a look at it. I have it in 5 formats…SVG, EPS, PDF, PNG, and JPG. Im going to carve it as large as I can on my Shapoko 3. About 32" in diameter…thanks all…
Tracy
When the file is imported it shows as:
If you then re-work the file so that only the visible colours are shown as outlines you instead get:
This will then allow selecting specific elements:
grouping them, and assigning whatever toolpaths you wish.
Note that because this started as a multi-colour, rather than b/w file, some lines are duplicated in/shared by multiple pieces of geometry:
so it will be necessary to isolate/associate elements by either grouping, or assigning them to separate layers.
Attached as a v8 file:
fort_hudy_v8.c2d (1.7 MB)
and here is the re-worked SVG (as a .zip archive):

Dang Will you are absolutely amazing! I could never have done that in a million years…I can’t even follow your explanations. That looks awesome. How much do I owe you for doing that?
thx again,
Tracy
All part of being a member of the Carbide 3D family.
Basically the “fix” would be selecting overlapping geometries (if need be after duplication) and using the “Trim Vectors” command to get down to only what is wanted.
You would probably do better if there was a b/w version of the design as a starting point, but see discussions here of figure-ground reversal.
Thx Will…you rock. Im going to try and step through your procedure this evening and see how it goes for me. There may be some “not so bright” questions coming up later. Thanks again for your help.

Thx Will…Ill have a look
