Help with Epoxy Inlay

Help designing this for an epoxy inlay. What’s the easiest way to carve this to allow for the same colors of epoxy to reflect in the inlay.

I’m assuming different tool paths for the various parts but I’m stuck with how to design it.

Is it possible to get a vector original?

If you’re stuck w/ the pixel image see:

I would do this in four steps.

  1. the black behind the X.
  2. the green.
  3. the yellow.
  4. the black details (toque, text, circle).

To blend the circle into the green as shown, do it as a 3D carve with the depth decreasing so the black gets thin enough to allow the green to show through. This will take some testing.

You can make the black and green passes a bit fat under the X. They will get trimmed when cutting the yellow, this will reduce chances of any fine line demarcating that boundary. Also, for the same reason, ignore the black details when cutting/epoxying the green and yellow, cut into them for the details.

Edit: If you’re not conversant with 3D carving there’s another way to blend the circle into the green. Make multiple copies of the circle with each one a bit shorter in the ends. Run a pass doing the full arc to a very shallow depth. Run another pass a bit deeper on the next shorter arc, etc.

I just started to use epoxy, and these are the best Video Content Techniques to help you complete your required request. I used this technique myself and they works as shown…easily. The only downside, of course is the wait time.
