Help with repetitive slotting

Hey All,

I have several pieces of oak in which I need to create slots -

After one slot is cut, I have to run the file again and each time it measures tool height which wastes a lot of time.
Could someone suggest a method whereby, with one click, I could cut the next slot and so on? Please bear in mind I don’t know how to code.
Attached is the c2d file.

Many thanks, in advance!
Gunter
Slot cut out.c2d (64 KB)

Connect to the machine

load the .c2d file into Carbide Motion

Save the G-code:

edit out the M6 tool change commands using your favourite text editor.

When running the file, run the .c2d file first, then once everything is set up, load and run the modified .nc file.

Perfect, thank you Will!

But, if you delete M6, remember to Load New Tool (I think that’s how it reads) on first run after turning the machine back on.

Hey Byrne,

Thank you, yes I saved 2 different files and use the amended one after I run the first file with tool change.

If you perform the Load New Tool and set your Z zero there’s no need for a second file with the M6. Rob, Will and Winston walked me thorough this awhile ago, works like a charm. I use this often for repetitive cuts.

Oh really, but after the first cut, I’ll need to click on “Start Job” for the next cut… will this not load the same file again?

A file stays loaded until you load another file, turn the machine off or quit CM. You will still need to Start Job each time but it won’t re-measure the tool.

Hmmm, I tried that and each time it re-measures the tool…

@WillAdams edit will remove the Tool being remeasured every time you run it.
@bpedit Are comments are correct. I use this to face material a little at a time. I just change the Z height.

You will have to remeasure the Tool if CM shuts down. It will be close, but not a good as setting yourself.
