Help with the tiny pokes

OK guys who can help me out with this issue? I’m trying to carve letters that are fairly small watching the machine over 11 minute cut and nine of the minutes are just tiny little pokes, but really the letters already look good to me.
For one that seems to really beat on the Z axis on my machine, which I don’t like as well as taking forever when it looks done.
Can anyone give me advice how to stop the little pokes from happening or at least massively limit them?

Which software are you using?

This was improved quite a bit in recent versions of Carbide Create — if you’re not using the stable build, please update:

If you still have this difficulty in the new version, upload your file and we will try to look into it with you.

Likely the “little pokes” are the vee bit cleaning out the corners. Try as @WillAdams suggested a later version of CC v8. Also set your retract height as low as you feel comfortable setting. A lot of time is wasted in the retract and re engagement of the little pokes. You could also try a different font. Frankly CC is not the fastest CAD/CAM software ever made but it is the right price (free). I know your frustration with babysitting your CNC and watching it make little pokes over and over but unfortunately it is the nature of the beast. You could also try just a simple vcarve with a 15/20 degree vee bit if you are doing an advanced vcarve. On really small objects you might be better off with a vcarve.

This worked very well! thanks all
