I assembled my Shapeoko 4 XL today, and when trying to home, the z-axis went down and then returned up but then I got an HM009 error. I tested the switches and they all turn red when I bring some metal near them, and I can see it Carbide Motion as well. It doesn’t appear the z-axis is making it close enough to the switch to activate it.
Not sure how to proceed, any advice would be appreciated.
Power down and slowly, gently move the machine to the center of movement for each axis, then power up and connect to the machine and go to Settings | Debug — are any switches/inputs stuck on?
If so, check and see what might be causing it — if nothing, check in with support@carbide3d.com
If no switches are stuck on, bypass homing per " Bypassing Homing Switches" at:
then try moving the machine in each axis — does the machine move in the correct direction for each axis? (X, left (negative)/right (positive); Y, forwards (negative)/back positive); Z (down (negative)/up (positive)) and the expected distance?
Try initializing again — if it doesn’t work, let the folks at support@carbide3d.com know what it does step-by-step.
Thanks, I got the X and Y accesses to get to the corner, but the Z won’t move consistently, makes a lot of noise. Thinking there might be an issue with the Z stepper.
