Yes, that should work.
Note that w/ a 5.1 you have the option of mounting the stock at the front of the machine in the “Overhang cutting area” and then use “Gantry Shift” so as to be able to cut it:

Note that you may need specialty “long reach” tooling, and dust collection can get sketchy for this sort of thing…
