How to clean? Spindle cover

So, how do I clean this? Does it pop off?
Also west texas isnt helping

@KrashAnderson

Not sure which version of VFD that is. At a minimum you can vacuum if off from the rear?

I don’t have that exact cover, but the filter fan grille/covers I do have are snap-fit, and prying up behind a corner with a knife blade or similar will pop it off. There is a separate grille/frame/filter support behind the filter element and this outer cover snaps onto its perimeter.

In a machine shop, cleanliness is a signal of operational health.

How so?

Thank you! I will try it out and see what I find

I was just concerned on damaging the fan behind it, but over spinning it or spinning backwards

That is a valid concern. You should not vacuum a fan unless you can restrain the blades from spinning. At least that is always what I have been told. Backdriving fans is not good.

I’m not a fan expert…. However I have cleaned small computer enclosure fans like this for a long time. As long as the fan is not running or the VFD is turned off you should not have a problem. The alternative is to try and pry the cover off, sometimes this is possible without snapping the fixture, sometimes it’s not. The other option is to open up the VFD housing which could lead to other issues.

I have a pre filter on my VFD to minimize this issue.

Tim, the covered just popped really easy off, i didn’t really have to pry anything, i would have rewarded you the solution, but the gentlemen gentlemen above you got it. Because we are good now.

I do like the pre filter idea, i’ll review attached it. Could you send pictures?

Thank you all clean now, i didn’t even have to pry anything it just popped off.

@KrashAnderson
