How to cut an oversized rabbet (not rabbit)

Hello everyone. Im trying to cut a rabbit cut on the backside of a piece of plastic for my boat. I need the rabbit to be 1/4" deep but and least 3" wide. I was thinking i could just try a leveling path but it always starts in the middle of the board. I figured if i started on the outside of the piece of plastic and when i got to the right size i would just hit stop. Im not sure this is the best way. But i cant figure out in carbide create how to get it to start on the outer portion of the board and cut towards the center. any help would be great. Thanks

Set up your rabbet as a pocket cut where the pocket is a rectangle with one side a half bit diameter or so off the edge of your piece and the other side where you want the rabbet’s width to end. The cut will still begin in the center but will stop before cutting too far into your work.

If, for some reason, the cut starting in the center bothers you, you can create an open path of straight lines parallel to the edge of your piece spaced a half bit diameter apart. Join these lines alternately at their ends like this:

rabbet

If you go this route, use a Contour cut and position the path a half diameter from the inset edge of your rabbet. (The first method is easier.)
